Lake Mission Viejo is a beautiful fresh water lake, 15 miles from the coast in Orange County, in Southern California.  The Lifeguard Department was established in 1978, and became a member of the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) in 1979.

Staff consists of a Captain, three Lieutenants, three Part-time 30's, six Seasonal Supervisors and approximately 50 seasonal lifeguards.  The officers and Part-time 30's are registered EMT's, and all lifeguards have received the Advanced Training level of certification from the USLA.

There are 5 private, white sandy beaches along the shore of the lake, and 2 are guarded by our lifeguard department.   There are 3 to 4 towers at both of these two beaches, and there is one additional roving lifeguards during peak hours.
