| The lifeguards also make regular boat patrols of the lake, aboard two 17' Boston Whaler's, equipped with first aid, SCUBA, oxygen therapy, and equipment for patient immobilization.
The department maintains three 17' Boston Whaler patrol boats, equipped with medical aid, oxygen resusitator, SCUBA, and equipment for patient immobilization. Lifeguard patrol responds year round from 6:00 a.m. to midnight. During the summer season, from approximately June 15 to Labor Day, there will be two boats assigned to patrol. There are a total of five boats assigned to the lake patrol division and one lifeguard truck. There are three seventeen foot Boston whalers, one fifteen foot diving boat (which is used for search and rescue) and one fifteen foot utility boat. The utility boat is used for general maintenance, buoy repair and replacement, repairing floating platforms and minor dock repair. Each patrol boat has two lifeguards assigned during each shift. |

| Each boat is equipped with rescue buoys, back board, splint bag, resuscitator, medical aid supplies, scuba gear, high voltage search light, towing bar and a small fire extinguisher. The boat is powered by a Honda seventy-five horse power 4-stroke outboard motor. The maximum speed is thirty five miles per hour.
The boat maintains communication by radio with the communication center located in the headquarters building. Lifeguards assigned to rescue boats respond to a variety of situations during its shift. The most common situations are towing boats, persons outside their vessel, vessels in swim area, unsafe boating practices, capsized boats, medical aid and many other enforcement areas. |
