REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be aquatically oriented, possess 20/40 visual acuity, be in superior health and physical condition, and be at least 16 years of age by July 1, 2008. A medical exam and drug test will be required prior to employment.
WHEN:
Tryouts will be held on Saturday March 15 and March 22, 2008. Check-in will be at 8:00 AM, and the swim test will begin promptly at 8:30 AM.
WHERE:
Tryouts will be held at the Lake Mission Viejo's Playa Del Norte facility (North Beach). This facility is located at 22555 Olympiad Rd., near the intersection of Marguerite Pkwy. and Olympiad Rd. in Mission Viejo.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
All applicants must complete a physical agility test which includes the following:
500 meter swim within 10 minutes, and a run-swim-run event to be completed within 10 minutes. The run-swim-run will include two 200 yd. runs with a 400 yd. swim. All applicants who complete both events within the allotted times, will be invited to participate in an oral interview to be held later that same day. Applicants who qualify to participate in a ten day in-service training program, scheduled for March 30 & 31, April 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 & 27, from 8 am to 5 pm. Those trainees who successfully complete the training, will be placed on our hiring list according to their successful participation. Each trainee will be paid $8.00per hour for the training program and once hired as a seasonal lifeguard will start at $10.35 per hour.
The Lake Mission Viejo Patrol and Rescue Department is currently seeking men and women for seasonal lifeguard positions, for the 2008 summer season (June 21 - September 1)
Some limited part-time work is also available throughout the year.
