LAKE I.D. CARDS MUST BE DISPLAYED AT ALL TIMES WHILE FISHING.

Permitted Fishing
Fishing is permitted only at times and in areas so designated and in accordance with regulations and fees as established by the Lake Mission Viejo Association.

Restricted Fishing
Fishing is restricted to Lake Mission Viejo Association members and their guests. Members must have their Lake Mission Viejo I.D. card visibly displayed while fishing and their guest may fish provided they first obtain a guest fishing pass

Closed Areas to Fishing:
Fishing is prohibited in all designated swimming areas and adjacent windsurfing areas. Boats must keep marina entrance clear. Fishing is prohibited on the shore side of the red marker buoys of the Playa del Norte facilities marina or any other so marked area. Red marker buoys delineate "no fishing" areas. No fishing within 15 feet of private docks. No fishing is allowed in the windsurfing areas adjacent to the swimming beaches at the North and East beaches.

Stocking
The Lake is subject to closure for fishing for the remainder of the day following any fish stocking.

Fishing Methods
Each angler may fish with only ONE closely attended rod, with not more than THREE hooks and must use own separate stringer. Snagging is prohibited.

Releasing
Bass, catfish and sunfish may be released after being caught, providing they are in healthy condition. Under no circumstances should trout be released. Trout may be given away but only at the conclusion of the anglers fishing day. Trout that are given away count toward the angler's 4 fish limit

Catch Limit
Any combination of four fish, one stringer per angler.

Penalty
$25.00 per fish over the limit.

Minimum Size Requirement
Trout - No minimum size. Keep all trout.
Bass - 12 to 20 inch slot limit. Release all bass March 1 to June 1 (must release bass smaller than 12" and larger than 20").
Catfish - 12 inches
Sunfish - no minimum size

Bass Catch and Release
All bass must be released immediately to the spot where they were caught between March 1 and June 1, the bass' annual spawning season.

15-Foot Rule
No fishing within 15 feet of any dock on the lake. Failure to respect the 15 foot rule will result in immediate 24 hour suspension of Lake privileges, and forfeiture of any fees, deposits, and fish caught.

Fishing Regulations
All State freshwater fishing regulations apply with respect to gear and method of take except that a California State License is not required.

Approved Baits
In order to protect the ecological balance of the Lake, the only baits permitted are terrestrial insects, worms, prepared stink baits, cheese baits and marshmallows. Prohibited baits include all animal parts (including trout roe, meats, dog food), all fish including goldfish, crayfish and fish from the Lake, salamanders, newts or any foreign aquatic organism; and vegetables like peas and corn. Chumming is prohibited.

Fishing Float Tubes
Fishing Float Tubes are not allowed on the lake.

Fish Cleaning
Only at designated fish cleaning stations. No fish may be cleaned on the Lake or on the shore and no fish parts may be returned to the Lake.

Closed Areas to Fishing
Fishing is prohibited in all designated swimming areas, as well as the Windsurfing/Kayak launch areas along the beaches (both Playa del Norte and Playa del Este). Fishing is also prohibited on the shore side of the red, marker buoys of the Playa del Norte facility/marina or any other marked area. (Red, marker buoys delineate "No Fishing Areas.") Boats must not anchor in marina entrance. Tying up to private docks, swim lines , or buoys is prohibited.
