LMVA Junior Lifeguard Awards

Congratulations to Devin Hanrahan, 2004 California Surf Lifesaving Association Junior Lifeguard of the Year. Not only is he an expert in CPR and a dedicated lifesaver, he's a hard worker and excellent role model. A three-year veteran of the LMV junior guard program, Devin's tireless efforts, leadership skills, and willingness to pitch-in and help his instructors and peers earned him this prestigious award. Sharing the celebration are: Megan Spansail (Lifeguard), John O'Neill (Lifeguard Lieutenant), Ingrid Hyross (Lifeguard Lieutenant), Devin Hanrahan (Junior Lifeguard of the Year).

LMV junior guards placed high in the California Surf Lifesaving Association's annual poster contest. This year's theme was "Beach Safety Tips," and all three LMV entries tied for first place, earning them a $250 scholarship bond. The winners took time to pose with LMV officials at a recent Board meeting: Sarah Ryan (A Group) won with her Jr. Guard advertisement, Rebecca Ryan (B Group) won with a sun protection slogan. Ingrid Hyross (Lifeguard Lieutenant) and Jane Chadburn (LMVA Board President), joined in the fun. The last picture in this set is Kelsie Brennan (A Group), who won for a collage of beach safety tips.
